The book captures the life of a lovely boy Randy who grew up in countryside of Rivershire in the nineteenth century, and who didn’t really have much of all he wanted but was in fact happy. His mother’s death marked the beginning of awful occurrences in his family and even families in the neighbourhood denied him the presence of their children to play with. Despite the awkward happenings in his life, Randy was strong and was still academically sound to the envy of most of his friends. Randy endured constant bullying and embraced the company of his dear Dog who was his only companion at a point. In order to keep himself busy and to add more beauty to the house, Randy grew and tendered a bed of roses that later became a thing of envy for Philly. Philly was a rich boy who had always wanted to have everything good Randy had including flowers and a dog but he was unable to because of his mother Molly. Philly also hated the fact that Randy was better in class and with the help of Jack, another kid from a rich family they invoked a plague that later made all of Randy’s wishes fulfilled through the amazing Raining Man that Randy had read about in his story.
